Okumidori (literally "deep green") is one of the principal Japanese cultivars used for shaded teas — gyokuro and tencha (the matcha base). It is a late-flushing cultivar, harvested after Yabukita, and produces a vivid deep-green leaf and a cup with strong umami sweetness from the late-spring shading chemistry.
