Saemidori

Saemidori (literally "clear green") is a Yabukita × Asatsuyu cross developed in Kagoshima and registered as a national cultivar. It is an early-flushing variety with a bright, vivid green leaf and a notably sweet, low-astringency cup; widely used for higher-grade Kagoshima sencha and for shaded teas where Saemidori's natural sweetness reinforces the umami of shading.
