Lu'an is a prefecture-level city in western Anhui in the Dabie Mountains, the source of Lu'an Melon Seed (Lu'an Guapian / Liu An Gua Pian) — one of China's "Top Ten Famous Teas" and the only widely recognised green tea made exclusively from the second mature leaf, with each leaf's central vein removed by hand and the result repeatedly baked. It served as a Qing-dynasty tribute tea enjoyed by the Guangxu Emperor and Empress Dowager Cixi.
