Bulang Mountain
Bù Lǎng Shān · 布朗山

Bulang Mountain in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, sits west of the Lancang River and contains the famous "Five Villages of Banzhang": Lao Banzhang, Xin Banzhang, Baka Nan, Lao Man'e, and Baka Long. Bulang and the surrounding Menghai mountains define the bold, bitter, full-bodied "west-of-river" raw pu-erh style — a sharp contrast to the softer, more aromatic east-of-river Six Famous Mountains. Lao Banzhang has earned the title "King of Pu-erh" for its concentrated bitter-sweet huigan; Lao Man'e (the southernmost village) is famously bitter from start to finish.
