Jeju Island, off South Korea's southern coast, is Korea's youngest tea-producing region but its fastest-growing — most Korean tea exported to America comes from Jeju. The island's volcanic-ash soil retains moisture and aerates better than mainland soil, and the humid subtropical climate gives stable year-round growing conditions and high precipitation. The island is dominated by Hallasan, South Korea's largest volcano. O'Sulloc operates three of its four organic plantations here (about 330 hectares total), producing Ujeon and Sejak greens for both the domestic and export market.
