Mengsong

Mengsong is a remote, less-developed tea region in the western part of Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, with elevations reaching up to 2,219 m. The name means "tribe on a high mountain" in the local Dai language. Mengsong is home to the famous Naka Village — Lahu-minority territory at ~2,100 m elevation in the northern Mengsong area, north of the Nannuo range, which produces the most representative Mengsong gushu material. The Mengsong cup is distinguished by a pronounced wild-mountain flavour, high fragrance, rich body, and a quickly-emerging huigan with minimal bitterness compared to the bolder Bulang/Banzhang style.
