Mengsong Naka is the most-prized leaf of Mengsong, a remote western Menghai County tea region whose name in the local Dai language means "tribe on a high mountain". Naka Village — Lahu minority territory at roughly 2,100 m — sits in the northern Mengsong area, north of the Nannuo range, and produces what is generally considered the most representative Mengsong gushu material. The cup carries a pronounced wild-mountain flavour and high fragrance with a quickly-emerging huigan and minimal bitterness — a softer foil to the bolder Bulang/Banzhang style.

Naka's high-elevation profile rewards short flash steeps early. Its huigan arrives fast and cooling — a marker that distinguishes Naka from the more bitter neighbouring Bulang material.
