Xinyang Quntizhong is the local sexually-propagated landrace (qunti = "population", zhong = "variety") of Xinyang City in Henan, a Camellia sinensis var. sinensis line that has been seed-propagated in the area for centuries. It is the cultivar behind Xinyang Maojian and gives that tea its slender pekoe-tipped buds and the briskness that distinguished it at the 1915 Panama-Pacific Expo.
