Phoenix Shuixian (Phoenix Narcissus)

Fèng Huáng Shuǐ Xiān · 凤凰水仙 (鳳凰水仙)

oolong

Fenghuang Shuixian (literally "Phoenix Narcissus") is the foundational Camellia sinensis population of the Phoenix Mountains in Chao'an County, Guangdong. Most named Dancong oolongs trace back to it: when a farmer found a particular mother tree with an exceptional aroma, the tree would be propagated clonally and the result given a fragrance name (Mi Lan Xiang for honey-orchid, Ya Shi Xiang for "duck-shit" aroma, Yu Lan Xiang for magnolia, etc.). 80+ such named clones exist today.

Origin region: Phoenix Mountain (Fenghuang Shan)
