Yu Lan Xiang (Magnolia Aroma)
Yù Lán Xiāng · 玉兰香 (玉蘭香)
Yu Lan Xiang ("Magnolia Aroma") is one of the named Phoenix Dancong oolong cultivars from Chaozhou's Phoenix Mountain in Guangdong, grown around 800 m elevation. The cultivar is named for its aroma — distinctly reminiscent of springtime magnolia blossom, with secondary ylang-ylang and toasted-almond notes. Traditional charcoal-roast finishing accentuates the magnolia top note; over-roasting flattens it to generic toast.
