Yuchi Township in Nantou County contains Sun Moon Lake — the geographic origin of Taiwan's Hong Yu (Ruby #18) red tea. The TRES Hong Yu cultivar (Tai Cha #18) is a hybrid of a Burmese assamica (B-729) and a Taiwanese wild Camellia sinensis (B-607); it produces a clear ruby liquor with the cultivar's signature mint and cinnamon notes — a flavour profile not found in mainland China red teas.
