Da Hong Pao "Big Red Robe" Wu Yi Shan Rock Oolong Tea
Dà Hóng Páo · 大红袍
Da Hong Pao is the most famous Wu Yi yancha — heavily roasted oolong grown on the rocky, mineral-rich slopes of Wu Yi Shan in Fujian. The "Big Red Robe" name is rooted in Ming-dynasty legend; modern Da Hong Pao is typically a blend of cultivars (Bei Dou, Que She, Rou Gui, etc.) finished with the traditional charcoal roast that defines the yancha style — chocolate, dark fruit, and the unmistakable mineral "yan yun" (rock rhyme).
