Bai Lin Gong Fu (Golden Monkey)

Bái Lín Gōng Fū · 白琳工夫

gongfu

Bai Lin Gong Fu is one of the three Min Hong (Northern Fujian) gong fu red teas, named after Bai Lin Town (白琳镇) in Fuding County. With a refined-tea history of 250+ years going back to the Qing dynasty, it is made from the local Fuding Da Bai Hao "Big White" cultivar — the same plant that produces Bai Hao Yin Zhen silver needle white tea. The leaves are hand-twisted into thin tight wiry strips, golden-tipped, producing a malty cup with floral and cocoa notes. Sometimes marketed as "Golden Monkey" in Western catalogues for its golden-tipped leaf.
