Bada Mountain is in XiDing Village in western Menghai County at 1,580–2,000 m elevation. The mountain is internationally significant: in 1962 a wild tea tree estimated at over 1,700 years old and 34 m tall — locally known as the "King of Tea Trees" — was discovered here, providing key evidence for the origins of cultivated Camellia sinensis. Ancient gardens at Old ZhangLang Village (1,400+ years of continuous cultivation by BuLang ancestors) cover ~1.3 km² of unpruned old-growth tea coexisting with wild forest. The cup is bold: pronounced bitterness and pronounced huigan, with a deep mineral structure.
