Da Ye Zhong is the broad term for the large-leaf Camellia sinensis var. assamica varietals native to Yunnan and the source of nearly all pu-erh. Mature trees can reach over 10 metres; the leaves are heavier, more polyphenol-rich, and longer-aging than the small-leaf var. sinensis used elsewhere in China.
