Gedeng is one of the Six Famous Ancient Tea Mountains (古六大茶山) of Mengla County, sitting in the northeast of the cluster — Jinuo (Youle) Mountain to the south across the river, Manzhuan Mountain to the west, and Yibang Mountain to the north. Like neighbouring Mangzhi, Gedeng's medium- and small-leaf cultivars are known for their distinctive aroma; production today is small compared to the more commercial Yiwu and Yibang.
