Pasha is a tea region in Gelanghe Town of Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, between the Nannuo and Bulang ranges at 1,200– 2,000 m. Tea cultivation goes back 1,000–1,300 years to the Tang and Song dynasties when the Hani ethnic group's ancestors began planting; about 1.93 km² of old tea-tree gardens remain, mostly several hundred years old. A "King Tea Tree" in the middle village is approximately 800 years old and government-protected. The cup's signature is a distinct opening bitterness that flips into a pronounced huigan (returning sweetness).
