Wenshan Bao Zhong (Pouchong) is the lightest of Taiwan's traditional oolongs — twist-shaped, around 12% oxidation, lightly roasted or unroasted, often classified at the boundary between green tea and oolong. It comes from Pinglin District in New Taipei City; farmers brought trees and techniques from Fujian in the 19th century, and Bao Zhong has been made here since around 1885. The name "wrapped kind" refers to the historical practice of wrapping the leaves in paper during drying. Production is now small-volume.

Below 90 °C; Bao Zhong is gentle and very lightly oxidised, so high-temperature water makes it green-bitter. The leaf is twist-shaped, not ball-rolled — opens fast.
