Guzhang Maojian
Gǔ Zhàng Máo Jiān · 古丈毛尖
Guzhang Maojian is a high-quality green tea from Guzhang County in the Wuling Mountains of northwestern Hunan. Tea cultivation here has 2,000+ years of history; the area was already supplying tribute tea to the imperial court in antiquity. The county's dense old-growth forests, abundant rainfall, mild climate, and organic soils rich in phosphorus and selenium produce a leaf with a firm, straight, hairy appearance ("mao jian" = "downy tips"), an emerald-green colour, a delicate but pronounced aroma, and a delicate sweet taste.
