Gong Mei (Tribute Eyebrow)
Gòng Méi · 贡眉 (貢眉)
Gong Mei ("Tribute Eyebrow") is the third grade in Fujian's white tea hierarchy — Bai Hao Yin Zhen (top) → Bai Mu Dan → Gong Mei → Shou Mei. A 2017 Chinese national standard specifies that Gong Mei must come from the Quntizhong (seed-propagated landrace) tea plant cultivar; Bai Mu Dan can also use Da Bai and Da Hao. Gong Mei's picking standard is one bud plus two or three leaves — visibly leafier than Bai Mu Dan but with more buds than the leafiest Shou Mei. The cup is a bright yellow, mellow and fruity with sweet dried-apricot notes.
